Five Years, Two Years--A Look Back and Ahead

It's been five years since five kittens and a mama cat were discovered in what is now called Central Village and two years since CATpassionate Village became an all-volunteer, federally-recognized non-profit organization. A lot of good, hard work has been done in that time with so much more to be done.

A look back.

To take a look back at our work. Watch this video (3:50 minutes) that features the highlights of the last five years.

A look ahead.

Looking ahead, today we assessed the feral cat trapping, spaying-neutering and vaccinating needs in the greater Lutz area. Here's where we landed.

Southwest Lutz (21) has four mama cats, two male cats, six eight-week-old kittens, five one-month-old kittens and three three-week-old kittens for a total of 20 cats and kittens that need to be trap-neuter-vaccinate-returned (TNVR). Ideally, we'd like to place the kittens with a rescue for adoption, but there simply is no place for them. We have already spayed one female.

Odessa (18) has two mama cats, one male cat and 12 two- to three-month-old kittens to be TNVR'd. We have already TNVR'd one female and two kittens.

Southeast Lutz (20), also referred to as Hope Village, has a remaining male and five calicos to be TNVR'd. So far, between Cat Man Chris and CATpassionate Village, we have TNVR'd approximately 20-plus cats in the area.

North Lutz (6) has one calico mama and four eight-week-old kittens to be cared for. The caregiver has already spayed one female.

Stay tuned for updates on our work and if you want to join us, we would welcome the help and support.
