Feral Cat Culture

Updated: May 9, 2022

There is an entire culture around feral cats that brings diverse people together that may never have crossed paths otherwise. People who become so dedicated to changing the lives of feral cats for the better that they make a lot of personal sacrifices.

As the president of CATpassionate Village, I have been in cat and dog rescue for many years. I have served as president of one non-profit, a board member of another, and supported other organizations in their good work to rescue and adopt cats and dogs to forever, loving homes. I received a great education in feral cat care and trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) in the process.

I've learned a lot from those who broke ground in this TNVR area--back when the euthanasia rate was abominable at our county shelters and before there were efforts to become no-kill.

Today, TNVR is becoming widely supported. I follow people on Facebook that think nothing of trapping 12 cats on a single Sunday for spaying/neutering and vaccinations, and to be returned later to the place they call home. Some of these TNVR warriors care for 100 cats that they feed every day, then help others that also have colonies. Their sacrifice is great, but they don't see it that way at all. They love cats and making a difference in their lives.

We hope with this website, our Facebook page and our work we can help facilitate putting an end to needless suffering of homeless cats in our little corner of the world.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us here. We hope you'll visit often to follow our work and our stories about CATpassionate Village.
